This bird was hysterical...and very determined to tear down his house. Shot with the 100-400L on 400mm. He was moving so fast, I probably shot 20 photos trying to capture his action. C&C welcome

Wonderful set. Great looking bird. But are you sure it's his nest? LOL Maybe he's stealling materials. :D

Thank you, Canonloader. I think he was tearing it down...he wasn't flying anywhere with the debris, just dropping it...he was working like a little madman too...I've not done many bird photos so I'm sure I've missed the "technique" but he just caught my fancy!

Deviant art, that's all I can say.
Permagin, the first image is very good. The EF 17-40 f/4 USM lens used ?

No, the 100-400. He was far away and I had the hardest time holding that lens up trying to catch him. I know #2 is a bit soft but like I said, it was just too funny.

Permagin, maybe layin' that gin bottle off for a little while would help ?
BTW, you should see a colony of Monk Parakeets in their nest buildinging season......those birds will steal building material from under your a$$.

Don't drink gin ;) ...and thanks for the ID. I've never been interested in photographing birds until lately (dazzlebea's and calico's photos, aside from yours, oh inspired one, have made me want to see them closer), so I need to buy a book and see what these funny creatures are.

Ooops, sory Permagrin.;)
I thought you were an old salt in wildlife photography....judging by some nice images I've seen such as that bear the other day.
Either way, you'll be perfect in no time ! You already have the passion and the wits...that takes you 1/2 way home.

Thank you petkal for the compliment. I do a lot of wildlife photography but have rarely done any avian.

You can address me with "Peter". Friends call me that. Probably because that's my name.

Where was this taken, Permagrin? Helps with ID to know little details like that...

Incidentally - in case you picked Petkal up wrong - it isn't a monk parakeet.

Never mind that, woman.
You are just wasting your time here.

It looks like one of the Orioles, maybe a juvenile Bullocks. That might explain the nest.
