Nifty-Fifty Woes replace it with an 85 1.8?

If I were able to tell by the XT's LCD monitor if my shots were going to be sharp or not with the 50 1.8, it wouldn't be so bad, but I really have a hard time doing this on such a tiny monitor (maybe just me). I can never really tell which are going to be keepers untill I get the shots on the computer. Maybe if you have a larger LCD you might be able to see which retakes you have to do immediately.

Hmmm now ya'll have me thinking, 50 1.4 or 85 1.8.....I think I'll still stick with the 85 and use the 50 1.8 when I absolutely can't back up (and of course roll the dice!)

I wouldn't replace the 50 1.8 with the 50 1.4 - I'd get the 85 1.8 first, to expand the repertoire, then worry about a 1.4
Regarding the risk of breaking the 50 1.8 - hmmm - I have filters more expensive than that lens...;)

If it breaks, that's tough, it'll just get replaced.
