I am having a problem setting JPEGs to open up automatically in Photoshop (ie click on a JPEG photo and it opens in Photoshop) on a windows xp home PC. I have tried using "open with" to set Photoshop as the default program to open the file type with, but while I can browse and select photoshop it is not added to the list of recommended programs and by default my JPEGs continue to open with microsoft photo editor. I can get jpegs to open in Photoshop by starting up Photoshop, then using file > open>jpeg or dragging a jpeg into the workspace, but it is kind of frustrating. Also, I can select any other program besides Photoshop to open a jpeg with, just not Photoshop. I was not having this problem earlier today and had made no changes to photoshop or any other programs. Have even tried completely uninstalling and reinstalling Photoshop, no dice. Any suggestions/help would be much appreciated.

Thanks :)

Ben

After using the 'open with' command check the box that says 'always use the selected program...'
Some programs may be 'stealing' the association so if this does not work go into any other image programs and untick any associations they may have as well.
