Hi,

It's been a very long time since I last got to shoot waterfalls (1 year ago in NZ!) and it's been a painful wait until now. This was taken at Jesmond Dene, in Newcastle.

The fall is very well placed in the frame,in both shots, with a very good expossure, especially for the water, nice ones Adam.;)

They're both nice, but I love the framing of the falls by the bridge in the second one. Beautiful!

Cheers dimitri- means alot coming from you as I really admire your work. I just exposed for the water and pulled the surroundings back out during the RAW conversion.. a little tip learnt from reading alot on here.

Becca: thanks alot, i'm glad you like them!

Aye, I'm not sure if i'm doing it right though. I just pushed the exposure up in CS2 during conversion, is that the best way?

Cheers rudgej, the framing was pretty much essential as I was trying to block the very bland grey sky out. I really do need to buy some ND filters- going to get a Cokin holder, problem is I don't know whether to get it for my kit lens (wide) or for my Tammy (much much sharper, better colours, generally better IQ). Anybody have any tips for a starter ND kit? I'm thinking a holder and a couple of grads.

I've got the Cokin P-series stuff which is a lot cheaper than the (most probably better) Lee filters, but if you're just starting, then a good Cokin kit to go for would be the Cokin P ND graduated kit (external link) that gives you three ND grads (1,2,3 stop) and the holder. You can then buy a 58mm adapter ring for the kit lens, and one for the Tamron. The CP is about 50GBP for the P-series, and is a darn sight cheaper than the Lee one at around GBP165.

Thanks for the info, I think i'll get the kit that you suggested. Looking forward to using them!
