I was just curious if anyone else had this little lens and could post some pictures they have taken with it. I haven't used it much, but I think it's pretty good. What do you think?

I use it as my walk around lens. I think it is great! don't have pictures handy on this computer, but the lens is definately a keeper.

i have used the version I and version II of this lens and its a great walk-around lens. On the canon film camera that I have used in the past, you can do landscapes at 28mm.
but with my 30D and its 1.6 crop factor, it is much harder to do. overall a great lens IMO

Yes, I like this lens and keep thinking I'll buy it. Bang per buck is high. A nice widey like the Toki 12-24mm and this one and most will be very satisfied in the walkaround department.

This was the first lens I bought after I got my dRebel XT. I used it to learn about focal ranges, composition, and the camera in general. It s a great walk around lens. I'm giving mine to my daughter along with one of my dRebels so she can learn the joys of SLR photography :)

It is not a bad Macro lens either...here is a 100% crop of Septimus Servus Emporer of Rome from 197 to 215 A.D.

The lens you speak of is a great bargain and its not that bad really.
I know an L lens is a higher rated lens and all that BUT..
f/4.5 top end of(28-105) the L 24-105 is f/4 top end... not that far off in that regard.

I have a copy of this lens and find that while it is a very, very good value it's a bit too soft for me at aperatures wider than f/8 or smaller than f/11 (f/5.6 is useable, but the softness is noticeable on large images). From f/8 to f/11 it's very sharp though. This isn't a bad copy/good copy thing either. If you look at the published MTF curves from Canon it's exactly how the lens is supposed to perform.

If you never print larger than 5x7 or if you don't print at all (display only on the web) then this lens is a great choice and I highly recommend it. If you print at 8x10 or larger it will only produce sharp enough images between f/8 and f/11.

I have this lens and it is a decent lens, but is has to be said that it is soft wide open. I use mine on sunny days, stopped down at least 1 stop.
