Desperately trying to take a good picture of her. I used the portrait mode of my camera. Did I do okay? I realized when I asked her to pose for me, I don't have any walls that don't have anything on them. So we used a door....... Bad backdrop, I know....

Not bad for a P&S. There is some glare on her forehead. I might have gotten more of her in the frame than you did. The WB seems a little bit too warm.

How do I fix that? Her skin tone is pretty close to natural on my monitor.

Looks like to me that the camera focused on the plane of her necklace. I'd shoot for getting her eyes in the sharpest focus. You could sharpen a bit in post-processing, but that doesn't beat a perfectly focused shot straight out of the camera.

Nice shot, though! Keep going!

Jim

You can tell it is no my daughter on a date. I am not beside her with a shotgun :D

2 Samuel 9:7-8, "So David said to him, “Do not fear, for I will surely show you kindness for Jonathan your father’s sake, and will restore to you all the land of Saul your grandfather; and you shall eat bread at my table continually.” Then he bowed himself, and said, “What is your servant, that you should look upon such a dead dog as I?”

Hi Debby,
Focusing is my greatest challenge now that my daughter is married and I do not have to worry about her dating. I used a little bit of Focus Magic which is software designed to sharpen a photograph. I did not try to make any other improvements. Many of the photos I have taken with my point and shoot digital cameras on auto setting seem to focus everywhere but where I want them to focus. Beautiful daughter worth photographing. Use her as a model to practice focusing. Try other settings to see what you get with lighting and color balance. Practice is free and I bet your model will enjoy it also.

Wow! Thank you Pat!! I try to take pictures of her often, I think her brothers get a little jealous..... At least she smiles for the camera. The boys make nasty faces..... ;)
