I am trying out that cheap 50mm 1.8 (I think it is euphemsitically called "Nifty Fifty"). I have borrowed it from a friend. This is straight out of the camera, no PP. Not that I know how to do that any anyways. I had a few more from that day I wanted to post but I am staying under the two picture minimum :D.

I thought this next one was interesting because of the placement of the bubble over his eye. I am sure that a few will find it distracting though.

2 Samuel 9:7-8, "So David said to him, “Do not fear, for I will surely show you kindness for Jonathan your father’s sake, and will restore to you all the land of Saul your grandfather; and you shall eat bread at my table continually.” Then he bowed himself, and said, “What is your servant, that you should look upon such a dead dog as I?”

These are really nice. I love pictures of kids being kids.

Don't you just love the dof of that lens?

You've done very well on these, they really don't need much if any PP, exposure and focus appear spot on.

Keep them coming.

I have one of these lenses and while it's great, with such a narrow DOF you have to be really spot on with the focus. Yours are pretty spot on so well done.

I do agree that the bubble over the eye is distracting, but the idea is good. If you can get the same affect of brokeh with the bubble off centre then it's a winner!!

Hope you like Nifty and end up buying one.

I have tried photographing bubbles and I've pretty much failed without Post Proccessing. I actually like #2 a lot but yes the bubble over the eye is distracting, if you have a cleaner shot of a bubble and know anything about comping photos together I would suggest adding a crisp outline of another bubble in that spot. I think the shot would really benefit.

Hope you don't mind but here's my pudgy baby bubble shot...and yes I had to comp in some bubbles, otherwise they were to sparce and looked silly.

Very cute baby! Thank you both for your comments. yeah, that DOF is shallow. I had a few shots from that "session" that were not usable. On some the eyes were in focus but the ears were not. I was trying to push the lens so that was okay with me.

I guess I will just have to try more pics of bubbles :D
