For those of you getting in on some new camera body/lens action, you may need some extra storage.

Buy.com: Sandisk Ultra II 2GB Compact Flash for $49.95 (external link)
After $20 rebate and $10 discount by using Google checkout!

Rebate expires 10/15/2006 (order date), so today will be the last day you can order to get in on this deal.

From what I've read, this should perform well with the 30D I'm getting. :)

Are you only allowed one to have $10 off with google checkout?

I want 2, but maybe i will get this one, and then an extreme 3 from B&H, cuz this is a good deal.

I think the Google checkout can be used an unlimited number of times. I think this is a deal between Google and Buy.com and google is taking some loss on the $10 to promote Google Checkout (eh, I think they can afford it :) ).

If you want two (or more), you should be able to get the $10 discount from google checkout but you'll need to purchase them separately (make sure the discount is applied before order is submitted). But you won't be able to get the $20 rebate per each purchase since it is limited to one households only... you could also get a friend to get another one for you and just pay him back.

Im looking at the ExtremeIII 2gb for around 67 with psaug and rebate..
Should i get that one or the ultraII for about 17 dollars cheaper?

I will be using on a 30D... is the extremeIII a better choice being a steal at only 17 dollars more?

Take a look at this site:

I decided to get the Ultra II by looking at the results of those tests, it looked like the performance between the Ultra II and Extreme III were negligible and not worth the extra cash.

I guess if you have a card reader with either USB 2.0 or even Firewire connection, the transfer rate will be limited by the CF card. So if you need a quick card->computer transfer, I assume you'll be able to see quicker speeds there.

Cool.. Do you know the best firewire card reader?

I have a USB 2.0 reader, and it does like 1MB per second.. it is Digital Research..
Will firewire read faster than that?

No, sorry, I've never used firewire before.

I am surprised your USB 2.0 reader is only 1MB/s. Take a look here (external link). USB 2.0 should be able to transfer data way faster than that... but then again it says it depends on the USB 2.0 host device.

I have a Lexar firewire reader, and with the Ultra IIs it is blazing. Seems to be one Raw pic/sec or there abouts w/XT files.

No problem, Rafael. $49.99 after rebate's pretty good right? :)

Yea, I got mine yesterday when I got back from work which is pretty crazy since I got the shipping notification from buy.com on Monday. Still haven't opened the box though... cause I got no camera to put it in yet. Ordering the camera and lens either tonight or tomorrow night. :)

Got my cf card today:), fedex left it at my door:(. Bad move. I won't be using buy.com anymore if that's how they are going to be treating the merchandise that I order from them:evil:. I've already had pscs2 disappear on me. Jeez.
