Grrrrr! I just found out that my Sunday order to B+H (Canon 30D) was "on hold" pending "verification.":evil::evil:

So, I have lost two days on shipping and now I hope that it will get here by Friday.

Lesson learned on B+H, check on your order and if it says "processing" for a status then call them and find out what is going on...bummer :evil::evil:

I had the same experience. Except I live in California so my order will probably be pushed to delivery next week because of the weekend. They didn't attempt to contact me, so it is a good thing I called them this morning. I suppose my order will ship today. I should have called first thing Monday because it was a big order and I figured they would need to verify my identity before they shipped. They must have been flooded with orders when the rebate became effective.

My plans have been put on hold temporarily. I was ready to plunge in deep and get the following:

5D
24-70 f/2.8 ISL or 400mm f/5.6 L
580EX

but now that I see that the rebates are good through Januaray I am going to wait, pay off what I still owe on my 70-200 f/2.8 ISL, 42" plasma and my new computer and then dive in. I know that this is the opposite of what this forum normally does to your spending habits, but I've finally kicked some sense into my brain. Despite knowing that the money is and will be there to cover all these things, I want to do things one at a time.

we have and will have a very similar gear list after this rebate purchases

and I didn't know canon made a 24-70 2.8 IS

oopsy...slipped on that one. Disregard my freudian slip - that was merely what I "wanted", not what I could get. :)

I got my shipping notice yesterday. I checked and they have charged my credit card. UPS reports "scheduled for delivery on 20 OCT 2006" and I am shipping to my office.

So, this weekend will be spent learning all about the wonderful 30D :)

Congrats! It won't take long to learn... I borrowed one for a weekend and got along fine with it... though I didn't want to give it back!
