This picture was taken 1 hour ago - that's the beauty of digital photo. I have not done any pp on it. Just want you to see it. Used the "nightshot" scene on my 30D + 430EX + monopod!

Hi.

That looks like a good night shot, but it's a little difficult to tell at that size. I'd like to see it a little larger if possible.

It's also difficult to get the outline of the buildings to stand out against the black sky. I try (but rarely manage) to shoot night shots when there is still a little light left in the sky to help pick out the edges.

Thanks for sharing.

I tried to improve the picture a few nights later based on feedback from this thread.

Well done for having another go. I like the deep blue in the sky here and I feel it really does help to be able to see the outline of the building. Thanks for posting a larger image, too.

Thanks for sharing this one too :)

It looks like that is a difficult building to shoot - is that a wall or some steps leading up to it forming the black base here?

Yes, you are right! There is a massive number of stairs leading up to the church! Helsinki also has another church called the templechurch which is built into a rock. You just see the upper part and the roof from outside. The interior is lit mainly through daylight seeping in from above! Pictures coming!
Strange thing, I happen to shoot churches here, but they are just so impressive and who else but the finns would think about building a church inside a huge rock in the middle of the city?
