What are your thoughts on these 2 lenses? Which do you prefer? I used to have the Sigma 24-70/2.8. I don't like the size what so ever. I am looking for something compact like the Tamron. I haven't heard anything about the smaller Sigma. All comments and comparrisons welcomed!

Thanks so much!

I can't compare as I've never used the Sigma. I can, however, offer unequivocal satisfaction with the Tamron. There is a thread on this forum with many example shots from it. I'm curently in Shanghai and used it as my main lens during my visit here.

I'm pretty sure I am going with the Tamron, unless this Sigma is a hidden gem

The Sigma 24-70/2.8 that you owned previously was an update to the older Sigma 28-70/2.8 and the 24-70 was much better (from most of the reading I had). It is a well known fact that the image quality of the Tarmon 28-70 & the Sigma 24-70 are on par, then the Tarmon should be better than the Sigam 28-70.

The sig 28-70 is an older version with less sharp optics, so I wouldn't recommend it.
According to simga the 24-60 is supposed to be a lighter version of the 24-70.
Personally, I'd just get the Tamron 28-75.

I'd definitely can speak for the Tammy. I love this lens. You will NOT regret it.

There is also a new sigma 28-70 EX DG, I have the DF version (it's predecessor) and I love it. It is very sharp and not to heavy.
The reviews on fredmiranda are also good. A score of 8.4 compared to the 8.2 of the sigma 24-70/2.8.
