I know I can do better... can you help?

I discussed this general idea with the client, and she loved it. This is my first try & I’m just not sure what it is lacking. I don’t hate it at all, but do you have any suggestions on how I can improve it? It is sized at 10X15... an unusual size, I know... but I really like the way the photo was framed in the camera & I’d hate to crop it if I can get around it.
The type is very small on your monitor, I’m sure... but I think (hope) it would be fine in a 10X15 enlargement. It is the "Love is patient..." verse in the Bible.

move the picture up and make Aaron and Ashley Shadowed.

I completely understand not wanting to crop, but I don't think it would really hurt this one to crop a little...I think you could take a an inch off both sides (of the picture) and still not loose the off set crop you are going for and get into the 10x13 range-easier to find frames. Or even work it to an 11x14 wouldn't be that much of a cut back.


One of my very favorite bridals I cropped in camera and about died when she wanted an 8x10.....

I agree with a bit of cropping. The backgroung seems a bit distracting IMHO.

Here are my 2 cents. Cropped some, desaturated and blurred the background, and applied some noise ninja at the end.

In the first one, the highlight coming off the building looks like an arrow shooting toward her head, very distracting. I like the crop that was done by the previous poster, as it gets rid of that harsh effect.

I love the expressions and lighting on the couple, it looks like you got a good rapport going with them. Great job!

Thanks for all your help. I kinda took it in a different direction altogether & even used a different picture. This is sized to a 16X20, so it will be much easier (cheaper) for her to find a frame also. I am much happier with this version. What do you think?

the text is too smushed together. make a text box first, then paste the words in and format it. if you adjust the text as a layer it will distort like you see

I like the first one better, maye the 2nd would look better if the blurred area was a bit darker too.

what font did you use for their names in the first one?

Get rid of the building - it detracts from the subjects

Yeah i dont like the text at all, plus it looks squashed like corey said.....i think a different text or smaller...but not so squished

Thanks for the comments & the heads up on the text box. I will try some changes. A friend also suggested adding a gaussian blur on the background. All I did so far was lower the opacity (I’m talking about the new version). I know there are some much nicer fonts on dafont.com, but I downloaded one & couldn’t figure out how to get it in my dropdown list in PS (I’m a computer idiot, have to be shown everything). The font that I used for their names was Vianta.

Definitely darken the background in the second one! The text isn't such a big deal IMHO, since once the viewer realizes what it is, they likely will know it anyway!

First, let me commend you on your creativity, it's cool. Not new, but cool.

I like the first better than the second, but in the first lose the lower left window in the background. The cool tilt will still work well. Also their cheeks are pressed a little to tight for my taste and their expressions need to be little closer. IE her smile not so big, his not so grim.

I too agree with Corey on the type style and layout. Losen it up some. In the second she is too close to the border while he has dead space behind him, it needs to be balanced.

Use PS to knock down some of the bags under his eyes. BTW it should read Ashley and Aaron, ladies first.
