So there are quite a few different photo sharing sites out there: Flickr, Smugmug, Photobucket, Zooomr, Fotki... Which one are you using, and what is the good vs. bad stuff with these?

None of the above. Using Zenfolio. It is similar to smugmug, but at least for me, you get more bang for your buck and the interface is pretty nice. You can check out my gallery in my sig.

For a real world comparison....go HERE (external link) and check out one of the challenges. Most all the photo hosting sites are represented here...and you get a real world test and feel of how they load and look when in actual use. You might be very surprised at the results. Some of the very big name sites don't load very fast at all....not a good thing if you want people to look at your work....nobody likes to wait for pages to load.

None of the above ;)

OK, I used to have a gallery on pBase, and it probably still exists, but hasn't been uploaded to in a few years. And I think I have 1 or 2 images on flickr.

Okay, a quick question. I was just about to purchase smugmug. Is zenfolio better? I'll wait until I hear some responses. Pbase doesn't offer enough download space for the cost, as far as I'm concerned and flickr doesn't look professional, though I already use it as storage...

I use PBase for my actual display space and photobucket for hosting images I want to link into forums. For some reason, when I link to PBase images they don't show properly in some forums, they just display as a 'red cross' although if you right click and select 'show image' they will come up.

I'm using zooomr - firstly because it's free and secondly because I prefer the interface to fotki.

Smugmug - nice gallery displays, pro features (proof-delay, custom pricing, watermarks, right-click protection, backprinting, etc...) and unparalleled support.

Well, I have to say that I just joined smugmug. I had a prob w/something, wrote an email to a real person and received an informed & detailed response in less than 20min. That's pretty good service.

I really like Flickr a lot. It looks nice and has great search and privacy options, plus I don't have a portfolio up yet so it's a good looking site to send prospects to. The other main one I use is Deviantart.com which has some amazing work on there (I don't send random people to this site who might want me to shoot for them). There are a lot of the youger crowd on there so drama often happens, I still like to hear what people have to say on there. If you make friends with the right people you get some good feedback as well as find some nice inspiration.

I have been using Flickr for a while now and am quite happy with it - I have yet to hit the 2gig/mo limit as I only upload keepers or social pics and I find it to be fairly fast. A few niggles like not having a progress meter for uploads bothers me but overall I'm quite happy with it. My year contract thingy is running out soonish and I am looking around for alternatives to see if there's anything better but I'm thinking I may end up staying with Flickr.

Pros: Tags, which make things so much easier... relatively easy layout, good automatic sizes (apart from posting on here, an 800pix one would be nice :p)... easy linking to any size..
