Does anyone have any feedback on this lens? I'm not a pro so I don't want to spend a lot for a lens. But my sister wants me to photograph her wedding in a couple of months so I need something half way decent. I found this ad on EBAY:

"Cosina 70-210mm f/4.5-5.6 Zoom Lens for Canon EOS / EF

The Cosina 70-210mm f/4.5-5.6 Autofocus Zoom Lens brings the action up to you, letting you compose great shots right in the frame. It is perfect for nature or even safari shots - you may remain quite a distance from your subject and still get great photos. Cosina's lenses offer superior optics that improve contrast and resolution from edge to edge throughout the zoom range. The 70-210mm lens features precision auto focus performance at longer focal lengths and smooth one-touch zoom control. It is multi-coated for reduced flare and increased light transmission. Whether you're shooting candid's or at a sporting event, this lens will get you the shot you desire. This lens fits Canon EOS bodies." (Buy It Now $74.95)

The only problem is that if you look at the picture that I attached it says "macro" on the lens. Like I said I'm not a pro so does this mean that it can perform macro shots or is this only a macro lens. If you read the bold print above it clearly states that this is a zoom lens.

It's somewhat common for tele-zooms to double as macros. It means it will still focus pretty close up while at its max focal length. It won't replace a true macro tho.

As for the quality of Cosina, I haven't a clue. You do usually get what you pay for.

I would look into renting 70-200 2.8 IS if I was to be doing a wedding.

Regardless of the quality of the glass (or lack thereof), this lens will be too slow for most indoor shots, unless you also have a lot of lighting equipment (but you say you're not a pro, so I doubt this).

To shoot inside, you need faster glass than the 4.5 - the 70-200 f/2.8 IS is the dream lens for this job. But, you might look at the 70-200 f/2.8 (non-IS) as this comes in hundreds of dollars less expensive (can't use the word cheap here, it just doesn't apply!).

To go less expensive, I think Sigma makes a 70-200 f/2.8 non-OS. That might fill the bill.

And, like Broncosaurus says, you might want to look to renting a good lens. Be warned, if you rent a good lens, you may find that you can't live without it!!

I wouldn't recommend that lens. If you are looking for a cheap telephoto zoom, the Sigma 70-300 APO DG macro is probably the best bang for the bucks at under $200 from reputable online retailers. I wouldn't use this or the Cosina for a wedding though as you probably cannot get fast enough shutter speed with these lenses in dim lighting.

I would have to agree with what the others have said... It's a cheap lens - and a slow one at that. The focal length range might be a bit on the long end for weddings too - unless you're thinking outdoor portraits, etc.

Agreed with everyone else that it is too slow for indoor shots as well as too long. If using it outdoors during daytime hours look for a used EF 70-210 f/3.5-4.5 USM. I bought mine for $165. Not a bad lens for the money.
