hi this is my second post regarding some trouble im having deciding if my 28-135 is lens is faulty. i have spoke to a repair shop and still got a mixed reply he said with the lens first been designed for full frame cameras he has seen this trouble before on the 1.3 and 1.6 crop factor cameras but he said the lens still could be the trouble he would need to se it for him self. he said i should take a photo of a flat wall as this is the best way to show the fault up so iv done that and would like your opinions on the image.

Yikes. Even at this resized for web image it looks horrible; it'll look like a disaster at 100%. Can they replace it for you? I would not keep this copy.

Soft edges I can live with depending on the lens. An UWA lens might have soft edges, or a prime. Depends on how soft. There's two things about your pic that honestly I find unacceptable. That's the overly soft edges and the distortion. Personally I find both problems on your lens too much for my tastes.

You should make sure that you level the camera before taking a test shot (with a bubble and a tripod).

Sometimes both distortions and softness in corners are due to level problems (particularly on wide angle shots) or focus problems.

don't know, I guess it depends on the aperature and how the shot looks at a greater magnification. I don't think the repair person has been honest as I've never heard of problems with this lens on any body regardless of crop.

Personally, having had this lens, I'd go for something optically better like the Tamron 28-75.
Good luck
