I was at the pumpkin patch this past weekend taking pics of pumpkins and such. I wanted to get a very low perspective to make the already big pumpkins seem enormous. My lovely wife caught me in the act. What kinds of things have you done to get a shot you wanted, gotten wet, muddy, dirty

First, the end result, I like how huge the pumpkin looks, it makes the trucks off to the left look smaller than the pumpkin

My wife took this shot of me in the act getting down and dirty, not to mention the strange looks people were giving me

You should pick up learning to see creatively by Bryan Peterson, at the minimum to read his whole perspective on looking like a dumbass to get the right shot.

Anyway, he mentions many different nutty positions he's been in and things hes down (getting very awkward looks and being questioned) to compose the photo he wanted.

I think I'de do quite a bit. In all reality, I'm a kid, and people look at me like I'm nuts with a camera this big anyway. I think people make too many criticisms on just what they see anyway.

I had a real adventure this past weekend. I got it in my head to go shoot a shipwreck I read about online. There are two ways to get there. One is a hike across 2.5 miles of rocky beach (small to boulder sized), or hike down a 'steep cliff' (according to the info I found) and walk maybe a mile or so. I took the 'steep cliff' route, stupid me. They didn't mention 'very narrow' and 'almost vertical' in the info I found!!!! Now I'll freely admit that I'm scared of heights, add to that all my camera gear and tripod, and you get a very harrowing climb down and up this cliff.

I was covered in dirt and sweat by the time I got to the wreck, so I just sat on a rock, and took a nice long break before shooting. It was very difficult shooting, as there wasn't a level spot on the whole beach, but I came away with some keepers. It kinda made getting there worthwhile, but I probably won't be going back!

there are my two shining ones.. but, there's quite a few more.. including, moving a hundred miles away from home because it's prettier, bribing security, falling into an ice crusted stream.... hmm.. there's more but I get teased enough..

Great shots of the wreck, the ocean is really tearing that thing about. The story of getting down there made me laugh, I can relate
