I have been shopping for this range a lot and if I could afford it I would definately get the L, but I think I will end up with the Sigma. Both look fantastic for that range though IMO
You mean "Twinkle Toes" ?

If I pay $2,000 for a lens, it's IQ has to sing for me opera scores from La Traviatta. Hmmm, I guess we have slightly different expectations from our gLass. I see L's as doing some things very very well, in a lot of cases thats IQ but not all. An example of this is the 50 1.0, the 1.4 and 1.8 are sharper, its just that the 1.0 is the fastest EF lens that canon made. The same applies to the 14, its a full frame USM 14 mm lens, nothing else in the canon stable is wider. With this in mind I didn't mind paying L money for it, even if it has been around since 1991. Moderation is for people that can't handle excess.

The MTF Regards BearSummer Well, I am IQ/$ freak, and that's probably my limitation. If I was a low available light freak and no reasonable expenses spared, I would consider putting my money into a camera-lens line that can deliver with authority there....Leica or some such. I have no current plans to get the first, nor another one of the second. My official gear list is in my signature. However, I am posting my full lens list in a pictorial form: Pt1....EF(nonL) and EF-s lenses Pt2... L white theme lenses Pt3.. L black theme lenses. ![]() So long as it includes a list of the lenses so I dont have to play "identify the lens" i'll be happy. When is this kit-fest going to appear? To fit within frame and add an attractive stepped sensibility please start largest/tallest in the centre and then spiral around outwards to reach the stumpiest one, L or consumer junk, in the front of the shot. Would need some preparation but very satidfying. We can then have a side bet to see which simpleton is able to identify each in order. https://photography-on-the.net …/showthread.php?t=1203740
