I had to cover a News event this evening, and my four year old padawan...err I mean assistant, wanted to come along. So I dressed him up to the ocassion, made up a Press pass for him (I hope he does not try to gain access to stuff on his own with that) and then lent him my 20D with the thrifty fifty (just to lighten the camera's weight).

He even took 20-25 photos. What do you think... Keeper or should I let him go?...

(He has a brand new sister at home, so he can use all the company and attention he can get, hence my -bring your child to work- day).

Anyhow, which one is your favorite?

Cheers,

Love'em, I really like the second one as he looks like he is looking for the right moment for the shot, Like the thrid shot because of the orientation.

I say keep him, at least until he gets good enough to become a threat to taking your job then cut him to ditch ;)

Thanks, Dante. I really like the eye extenders, although I do not wear glasses, I really appreciate not breathing into the LCD and dials.

The only glitch I had with the extender, was that it attached to the camera well, but then the final eye piece, was not nearly fastened enough. I lost three in less than a week. So I finally got ticked, and bought like 4 new spare eye pieces (the rubbery ones). I keep two in the bag, in case the extender is a no go for any reason, and then I superglued the eye piece to the extender. This was ok, except that the superglue while drying created this light white coat on the extender glass, so I had to polish the plastic over and over to make it visible again. I would say now it is at 95% visibility. I just got fed up of loosing the eyepieces. Now the whole rig works out just fine.

THANKS Y'ALL FOR THE COMMENTS!...

Ryan, I am transfering photos to the PC right now, so I should be able to post a couple that he took in a little while.

Cheers,

He surely did. Was pretty bashful about getting up to take a pic, but he enjoyed just being there doing what his dad does most evenings. He did take me out of the place about half way, and said "Dad, this meeting is boring!" and we went back in. And I left after about an hour, not my usual thing, but I did not want my son to over do it either.
He will turn 5 in December, I have to tell you, I was impressed with the way he behaved.

A funny story: I usually walk the sidelines of the room, to get closer and a good angle on the subjects, and I asked Matt to stay in his chair while I did so. But on the third time, he really wanted to come with me. "You gotta take some pictures though, ok?" I asked. Sure, he said.
So I hugged the wall, and started walking towards the side of the action. I was almost all the way there, when I realized a lot of snickering and chuckling from the audience. I started looking around, and my own son was using me for cover !! he would stand directly behind me, then pop his head out for a shot, and then back into hiding. The whole place came to a stop, and we were the focus of attention for one second. I graciously smiled, and walked back to my chair (I thought it was funny too, but I like to be near invisible when I get so close to the Speakers and guests).
Anyhow, it was a very enjoyable evening. A couple of his pics are coming up !!

Great pictures and a better story. It is really neat that you can take your sone to work with you.

2 Samuel 9:7-8, "So David said to him, “Do not fear, for I will surely show you kindness for Jonathan your father’s sake, and will restore to you all the land of Saul your grandfather; and you shall eat bread at my table continually.” Then he bowed himself, and said, “What is your servant, that you should look upon such a dead dog as I?”

It's a shame someone didn't get a picture of you two. It would have been a treasure!
