Homework with a Smile CC on Practice

Hello,

I'm practicing using back button focus and also playing with my speedlight that has been on my camera just once.... Here's the second attempt... Bounced off the ceiling.

Not sure why it's so warm... I cooled it down in RSE a bit, but still looked warm when I opened it in PS... maybe I need to change my white balance from auto to flash?? I'm not ready to start doing custom WB just yet... Learning one thing at a time..

Anyway.. here's my "just turned 7"- year old daughter taking a break from homework to give my camera a little smile.

I don't think that's too warm, it looks great.. very well lit portrait. I like it a lot.

You couldn't pay me to have a smile while doing HW LoL. I also do not think it is too warm, it's just right!!

Michael, I'm on the NW side of the valley... Opposite ends, we are... Our kiddos are near the same ages, I think... You're son is 7, and I think your little one (Jamie) is 3?? My little one is 2 1/2.. Sometime we should meet somewhere and shoot together. I'd love to to get out to Tempe Town Lake... I hear there are some great opportunities there... Don't think my hubby would go for it, but I could drag the girls along.

Your pics will tend to be on the warm side when you bounce, since walls & ceilings are seldom pure white. Ambient light will add to it also. This is a nice capture of a cute kid.

Kristy, such a sweet face! I love the ink smudge on her hand, one pencil (not sharpened) and the other, sharpened but no eraser! Very cute shot and the lighting gives it a cozy, homey feeling

You are correct ... way too warm. I'm posting my version with a normal flesh and after I blurred the background & made it into a step-mount.

It's an adorable picture. I agree with Craig that a shallower DOF would be better, but I love everything else .

I think its great. Don't change it.
