Bug Bubbles?

Curious if anybody here knows what made these bubbles. This photo was taken in early morning. Various insects out a this time of year. There was no sign of any bug in the vicinity either.

I have seen this before but never heard what makes it. Maybe it's protection for some sort of eggs.

I did try to examine as close as I could without disturbing things and could not make out any evidence of eggs, though I would imagine they could be near invisible. These bubbles were not around later in the day.

Cuckoo spit made by Spittle bugs as a protective covering - they blow watery excrement through a modified anus!

I am not sure I have heard of or seen a Spittle bug, will google it to see if it looks familiar.

Froghoppers also have this habit and it is produced by developing nymphs for their own protection.

It does look like spittle bug froth as shown on pictures I found and there are spittle bugs in Alberta. This is something I will look at much closer next summer.
