PetKal,

it appears the mods ever-seeing eye caught our little exchange yesterday and I now feel humble to join the 'custom honorific' ranks ;)

Now I'm not complaining - whining maybe, but not complaining - but I'm happy just to be a member of this fine forum, and I was pleased to see my status go to "Gold Member" when my post count reached the appropriate level.

But what is the criteria for custom status? I've got 300 posts on EOSAddict, and other folks with way more than me are still Goldmembers" - so what's the deal?

I want a custom status too, but I'm afraid if it comes out of this exchange it might be "Vintage Whiner" or something similar. I'd much rather be the "Resident FD-EOS Holdout" or some other non-derogatory tag

But then this might just fade into oblivion. . .

In Either Case -
Have Fun,

Rick

Your anxiety is understandable, but you need to follow the process, I think.
The main honorific nominator in the past was Unstoppable F. Jojo von Sigma AktienGesselschaftwerke.

(Then again, Dante Alighieri did nominate himself... )
Perchance your best bet would be to get in touch directly with either Graf Heg von Waxwing, or TPT or Triple M.

Furthermore, I think that talking to MD Jak or Connie-Lad would be a waste of your precious time.

CoolToolGuy,

I feel your pain, you too Claire. I have no idea how it got there ;) I did not 'apply'. Besides, I'm not sure my 'honorific' is actually a compliment! I'll let the Mods pitch in if they wish to declare otherwise!

Likewise, those who give can easily take away ....!

You see, boys and girls, men and women, I think all of it really comes down to the Zuckermann's Pig and Schroedinger's Cat. Things just happened to them, you see ?
The pig was not in control no more than the stupid cat. Now, cats are killers too. They kill birds and smaller mammals.
OK. now back to Aurora Borealis. Does anyone manufacture that ? Right. We do not flipping know. Maybe them Russians could do it just to play with our Canadian heads. But that's all very conjectural. The fact is, Aurora just happens. You see ?

Now, let us go back to the accident of chance. Think of your birth. Who was in charge then and there ? Of course nobody. It just happened ! You see?

What I am trying to tell you is to stop bellyaching. Poopey just happens. So do good things. Nobody is in charge here ! There is no systematic committee way of looking at thousands of silly little honorific applications and make awards and allocations.

I wanna conclude these remarks by talking a bit about enthropy and thermodynamics. What I am trying to tell you is that sometimes letters do permutate and coalesce in a random way which results in some intelligible but altered title ...the characters are in a perpetual state of flux. If we wait long enough, the pavement will suddenly cool off and propel that 24-70 f.2.8L upwards against gravity......do you understand what is that I am gettin at ?

Good. Then stop whining.;)

Well, since my whining didn't get me an immediate custom status, could we at least clarify Petkal's? "Geratol" seems to be a group of ham radio operators:

GERATOL NET - The Geratol Net, a worked all states net in the Extra Class 75 meter phone band is now accepting eQSL cards, provided that the eQSL cards are Authenicity Guaranteed and the frequency is marked to four places in the remarks section. We meet at about 3.768 Mhz every evening at 0100Z.

While the somewhat more familiar "Geritol" is a vitamin supplement typically associated with older folks:

So are we now branching out from Canon Digital Photography to ham radio? Or is this a reference to a comedy club that has paramedics on duty in the lobby?

Have Fun,

Rick
