Im going to be buying a new lens in the next couple of weeks and have been looking at the
Canon 10-22 - Can get for £370
Sigma 12-24 - Can get for £340
Sigma 17-35 - Can get for £240

Id rather get one of the top two but just want a wide lens for as little money as possible.

OBV i know the 10-22 is a top lens but any experience on the others? I did search threads but nothing came up.
Any other lenses i should be looking at?

Thankyou
Sarah :)

If you're looking for something really wide (from 10-22 and 12-24 I'd assume you are) take a look at the Sigma 10-20 EX (about $200 cheaper than the Canon) or the Tokina 12-24

on a 1.6 crop body, go with Sigma 10-20. Heard a lot of good things on this lens.

I havent had extensive use with Tokinas, but what i have played around with has been good. I believe they are made along side Pentax lenses, branded differently (correct me if im wrong). Check out this one that should be coming out soon:

The Tokina 12-24 has quite a following around here, I've never used one but apparently they're built like bricks and the IQ is pretty good too.

I think if I were going for an UWA I'd get the 10-20 from Sigma, cheaper than the Canon, wider than the Tokia, and good IQ to boot.

I had the Tokina and 110% recommend it without hesitation. Very nice optically and great build. Does the job at a good price. Onestop-Digital (external link) sells them for around £260 inclusive. If you want to spend up to £370 I am soon selling my mint 17-40mm L with a CP filter and to a real shooting enthusiast I might consider around that kind of price: to L collectors it would be £450 ;-)a I'd probably go for the Tokina tho' unless you need a wideyish for walkaround too.

I whole-heartedly recommend the Sigma 10-20EX DC. Great, fun lens to shoot with that takes brilliantly sharp pictures.

I recommend the Tokina as well. Can't say you'd go wrong with any of 'em though...

That said, the Sigma 12-24 has the distinct advantage of being full frame compatible, since it's not a DC or EF-S.

I've had the Tokina 12-24 and have the Sigma 10-20. The Toke isn't as wide and has a bit more CA, especially at 12mm, and needs a slim CPL at 12mm. It maybe a touch sharper than the Sigma and is built nicer as well.
Goto Lightrules site and see for your self. I'd recommend the Sigma b/c of it's 10mm wide end and b/c it's a touch cheaper. But I don't think you can go wrong either way.
