If you try this again, I'd be curious to see how it looked around 30-40 minutes before sunset, and position the subject so the light shines right through the water trail. Or maybe try it with her facing you, angled about 30 degrees off camera axis, and have her backlit (dark usually looks really nice when backlit)
Maybe even throw in some fill flash, too

Well, being this one was taken in Maui, it will be hard to recreate right away
This shot was also taken at high noon, I felt the skies would have been too bright. Taking it at dusk is a great idea
