I haven't had a chance to post any shots like this yet, but I thought you all might have some interest in this non-duck but goose shot.

I don't know if I actually correctly sampled at 100%, but either way this is a very tight (maybe more than 100%??) crop with just default lightroom sharpening. A non-moving subject might have a bit more sharpness. I've found that it's very sharp at 2.8 and exceedingly so at f/4.

I really like the lens (the non-IS version) and have found that it's very well suited to my uses (sports and press work). In the past month I've shot probably something approaching 2,500 shots with it, so I can post other examples for anyone trying to decide on it.

Good question. Angle of the wings? Looks more like spreading to brake than spreading for lift ;)

And if they are pests, as I suggested to Petkal in another thread, there is always the magnificent PLATE shot :mrgreen:

You're right, it was landing. Trying to get away from the terrifying photographer-- it just made a short hop that looked dramatic. And I suppose when they become to much of pests, they'll start allowing shooting of another kind. :D
