I went the extra for the IS because I will probably hand hold a lot at longer ranges. Couldn't hurt to have it. "A good photograph is knowing where to stand." -Ansel Adams

I was going to do the same thing, and get the IS, because i will be using it a lot for weddings, but, i am also getting a 30D hopefully in the next month or two, and figured i will need the extra cash...
