Took this series while watching a Living History display. Wanted to try and keep the photos looking from the same period (used sephia toning & defocusing). I am hoping that I achieved my goal?

You captured that era well. The PP looks great. Looks like you would find these in the museum. Great job.

Looks like they were taken a long time ago... so I think you accomplished the goal.

Nothing wrong with these, but I frankly don't understand the notion that photos of people in period costume need to look like old photos.

You won't find pictures from the civil war period of people riding horses, or anything else moving. The shutter speeds required by the photographic technology of the time prevented any kind of stop-action image. Because of this, many of these shots don't look "authentic" anyway.

But that's just my opinion. I like sharp, colorful pictures. :D

If you want to try to replicate the look of the civil war period, a Google search for Matthew Brady should help you find some great examples.
