This is the Holocaust Memorial unveiled in 2005, 60 years from the anniversary of the end of WWII. When I first viewed it it almost appeared "tacky" but after you spend some time wandering through it we began to understand the thoughts behind it. Built on undulating land many of the stones are 3m (10ft) tall and when in the middle the only light you get is from overhead. It really is an eerie place and the shadows and cold stone give you a feeling like no other memorial.
It is very well thought out and an interesting memorial in the centre of the city without the grandeur of other "victorious" monuments.
