So the other day, the lightbulb (in my head) came on. I often times (using my 100-400) miss great shots because I'm using auto focus and it cannot focus on my subject, instead it focuses on everything in between. By the time I find the switch, and turn off auto focus, then manual focus, my subject is gone!!!
WELL, the other day I realize, all if have to do is continue to hold the shutter button half way after it focuses, then manually focus???? DUH! Man, why couldn't I have realized that before now. I will never mess with turning the Auto Focus off again. Even if it doesn't focus, I can quickly move it to something that will focus, then do it manually.

BTW- I suppose this wouldn't be an option for those lenses that don't allow both Auto and Manual at the same time.

Try to focus using * button (CF-04). After you get used to it, I think you will like it.

Also... to the OP... you mention that "it focuses on everything in between". Do you have your focus points set to Auto (all lit) or do you have it set for center focus?
