Couldn't get Chase to wake up for his first session, But mommy wanted pics for birth announcements. He was 7 days old yesterday and slept all day. As for last night... Not so much.

The hand in the first one seems to have some distortion, ie giant right hand

It is a black fleece from wal-mart,draped over his bouncy-seat. I used black sheet in background, but made sure not to spill light on it. Don't think Black sheet even made it into most pics. If you lighten the pics with levels. you will see the fabrics better. Just slide the center slider left.

So sweet! Isn"t that just like a baby, asleep when you want him awake, awake when you want him to sleep!

The next step is to get him to wake up, but may do a few angel pics like my nieces baby pretty soon.

I don't think it's distortion. It's just the particular angle. I probably wouldn't have noticed it if you hadn't mentioned it.

An absolute cutie (but then I'm a sucker for babies).

Regarding the sleep pattern, perhaps the solution is to hang your camera and a flash over his crib at night! (Glad I'm long past those days; lost sleep has been the only negative in parenthood, and fortunately it goes quickly.)

All I want is a 10-2000 f/0.5L with no distortion that weighs 100 grams, fits in my pocket, and costs $300. Is that too much to ask?

Great photos :)
I'm sure it won't be long until you complain he won't sit still long to get a shot ;)
Once they start wiggling, they just don't stop!

Congratulations on the new arrival - here's to lot's of precious memories with him.
