Hello all:

An artist whose gallery is around the corner from my studio stopped in and asked me to shoot some hi rez pictures of artwork that she was done. She has about 6 total with the average size 3 foot by 4 foot. I was wondering if anyone does this type of work and what you normally charge. Do you charge by the piece or hourly or what. Keep in mind I want to build a working relationship withthhis person and also do her Giclee printing, which I do in house.

Thanks in advance

first off, do you know how to do this well? have you done some before?

I would charge per piece, and it would depend on what they will use the image for.

if you are doing this as a "favor" for more business, print off a invoice at full price, then in pen cross it out and put in the lower price, this way they don't keep coming back or send others to you for the low ball price you wanted to start with.

yes I have done it before as favors to artist freinds. This will be my first paying gig. I will shoot them and then color correct them. Som are being used for greeting cards. The others for Gilcee reproduction. What would be a reasonalbe fee per piece?

Thanks

I charge a maximum of $40ea. for a typical sized painting... this includes color correction and burning to CD. I drop to $25 each after 6. I should note thought that my grandfather is a professional watercolorist and this is my pricing for his students which is quite regular work for me. We dupe their prints on a Epson 9800 for $60 each. (24x36 prints)

Hope that helps...

Thanks. That does help. Thanks. Those rates seem very reasonable. I am hoping this becomes regular work for me as well.

Thanks again
