Cool effect, were you using a cardboard type shutter to cover the lense in between exposures? I've messed around with this a bit myself and it can be fun.


Just Steve lately....:confused: .....
20D, 430EX, 16-35 I, Broken 50 1.4, 85 1.8 and other bits and pieces.

Actually no, i used a flash that i held in my hand, flashed two times in very dark room

How do you do double exposures with DSLR's? I thought it wasn't possible, except through software.

Looking at his technique mentioned above (two flashes in a darkened room), I suspect it is actually one shot (i.e. a shutter opened and closed once) with the shutter locked open. The two exposures come from two flashes of light on the one shot.

I used to play around with these sort of things back in the film age, but now it is so much easier, and controllable, to take two seperate shots and combine them in PS to get the same result. This having the advantage of being able to fine tune the positioning of the elements and the opacity.

Not to say that there is anything wrong with doing things the old way for fun of course :)
