I have both but to date I've not used the 100-400 on the 5D; if I need that range it goes on the 20D and the 70-200 with a TC goes on the 5D as backup. Generally, I keep the longer lenses on the crop bodies and the wider ones on the 5D.

Granted, if I'm at an air show or chasing birds it's seriously too short. But for dogs in the yard, moderate distance landscapes, and the like it does fine. Jon
