D.CraigFlory Goldmember 1,333 posts Joined Sep 2006 More info | Do NOT use the built in flash. It will destroy the lighting & give you flat lighting. Instead, use a reflector. Even just a large piece of white cardboard would have helped your images. Better would be buying a reflector with white on one side and gold, or silver, on the other side. They looks a bit blue. Might try adjusting the white balance. When you're at the park shooting the kids, feel free to use the pop-up flash. It's a whole lot easier than dragging a reflector along! A bunch of stuff.

All you have to do is dial down the camera's FEC and it should do ok. It also seems as if your white balance was set to tungsten here or something similar as there is a blueish tinge to the photos. The popup flash might not be as good as carting along a reflector, but it's better than nothing. Experiment and pick the best--then claim you planned it all along! Geoff

steved110 Cream of the Crop 5,776 posts Likes: 2 Joined Dec 2005 Location: East Sussex UK More info | The pop-up certainly can be harsh, but as day-time fill is is not too intrusive, and you can dial it down with flash exposure comp anyway. you can also get little diffusers that fit over the pop up, or even make your own with tissue paper or anything really..
