The Enchanted Forest (4 images)

7 of the Scottish POTN Clan were invited to the Press Launch at Faskally Wood in Perthshire on Thursday evening (we are there as paying guests again tommorrow)

The forest is treated to a light and sound show for the next few weeks as Autumn sets in.

The organisers are using one shot from each of us in exchange for the free entry.

Here are a small selection of shots I came away with.

Interesting colors. Looks "unreal" to me!

It was a difficult decision on how far to bring out the shadows.
The forest was in pitch dark apart from the lighting effects.

I quite like a sillhoutte effect and let the lighting do the work but again that isn't to everyones' tastes....thanks for the input Samsen..I'm not sure myself.

The colours were very surreal but truly represented in the images.

We are all back there tommorrow night so I'm going to try a different approach.
I may try 'painting with light' with a strong torch on foreground detail.
The exposures were anywhere between 10" and 30" and f16 to get the 'twinkle' in the spotlights.

Numbers 2 and 3 do it for me. The fact that you can't see the light sources gives them a mystical 'enchanted forest' quality.

Number 4 would be cracking cropped in to the centre, with the light spilling through the trees.

I actually remember a good photography teacher, taking all of the students with flash light to a large caste at a dark night and the image created by cooperation of all was marvelous (Color filters for flashes were in use too). Your lights, flashed back that memory. Well done and you can't go wrong how you proceed.

I like #3, especially. It will be interesting to see the results from light painting.
