I see what Mike means when he was telling me how good the 'spit log shot' is.
It's a dream of an image, and intelligently composed
I know how difficult conditions were on the night, so this set of images is a real achievement, well done Steve.

Concentrate on equipment and you'll take technically good photographs. Concentrate on seeing the light's magic colours and your images will stir the soul. - Jack Dykinga

Nice shots, Steve and I can confirm how hard it was to get anything other than LIGHT and DARK! It all looked so easy, but now I've been - it's not! I think I managed 3 or 4 keepers from the lot I took.

I've enjoyed all of the shots posted from the Scottish POTN meet, but of all of them, your 2nd and 3rd are my favourites. I think it's because the light sources are hidden, that could be anything lighting those trees, I'm half expecting another pic with a UFO and Mulder shouting "I told you so!" :)

Too many posts to quote/reply to, but thanks all...your comments are very encouraging, especially from so many fellow photographers whose work I admire greatly.
That is praise indeed!

I was like a kid in a candy shop when I saw some of the scenes and anything that follows is going to seem like a letdown after such a wonderful opportunity.

I've a lot to learn about night and low light photography but what a great place to get started!

A big thanks to Mike Bell who organised a really fascinating 3rd POTN Scottish meet. :)

The light source was already laid on for us in the form of a controlled light show.

The whole forest was covered in various lamps...floods, spots and scanning ray lamps.

You had to be there to appreciate it, as there was also music and sound effects.

Very 'enchanting'!
