Both lenses are eminently suitable for bird photography. However, the flexibility of the zoom as well as USM is not to be underestimated. On the other hand, the 15FE has the nominal aperture and physical size advantage.
Both shots were taken with the 20D, JPGs unprocessed, as they came out of the camera. The images are minor enlargement crops.
#1 shot with the 15mm f/2.8 Fish Eye
#2 shot with 10-22 @ 10mm.
In a nutshell, those two fine pieces of Canon optics are highly recomended for bird shooters' essential gear kits.
