100mm f2.0 question

I am thinking I should add this to my set later. I have an 85 1.8 on the way right now.

I was curious if the 100 (non-macro) does a good job with macro with extension tubes? I'de be getting the lens for sports and portraits / school shots, and I figure the macro version might focus too slowly.

Canon EOS 30D, Sigma 30 1.4, Sigma 10-20, Sigma 105 Macro, 135L, 430ex, Lowepro Mini Trekker AW, Manfrotto 3001pro w/486rc2 and 804rc2 head, Manfrotto 681 w/ 3232 head.
