I was curious if you order from bhphotovideo several lenses and want to claim rebates, are you out of luck? Can you get the Canadian rebates or the American ones? I just checked and ordering from bh is still much cheaper then buying from say Henry's after rebate.

I ordered a tamron lense and a 2 gig sandisc card from b&h bothe had available rebates both valid only in USA would not send to Canada. I did not try it but that's what the fine print said.

For US Rebate you would need a US address.
Are you going to take advantage of the double rebate?

I work in the headquarter of one of Canada largest chain of electronic store and I can get the 5D for $1200 cheap because of staff discount and rebate.. I might just buy it :-) with the double rebate...

I encourage anyone to buy their gear with rebate before it runs out!
J

So what about the Canadian rebate? Can it work with an item bought in the States?

No.

Excerpts from Canon Canada pdf regarding the rebate offer:

...All items must be purchased from a participating authorized Canon Canada Inc. (“Canon”) dealer during the promotion period of October 13, 2006 - December 31, 2006...

...Every purchaser must submit a copy of their receipt showing the purchase date, dealer location, products purchased, and purchase price, all of which must be clearly legible to be valid, and the original UPC bar codes cut out from their Canon EOS 5D/30D and eligible Canon EF Lenses and Accessories, along with one of these Mail-in forms completed in full.

I guess us Canadians are just getting royally screwed.

But I guess they can't do crap all if I have a friend in New York who comes to Toronto often, and is willing to pick me up a few things from bhphotovideo, cut out the upc codes and send the rebates in, now can they? :).

Royally screwded by giving us Double rebates?

I'd say it's step in the right direction and we should show them that we like large rebates.

Yes, but buying from bh still seems cheaper then Henrys + Rebates, am I right?

Perhaps they should do one universal rebate for Canada and the US? Of course they wouldn't do that as rebates cost them $ :).

Henrys is overpriced, but even with their high prices you can save.
Buying a 5d with a 50 1.4 from Henrys with the rebates deducted comes out to about $3880 CAD tax and Shipping included. The Same combo from B&H would run you about $4046 CAD after tax a shipping. And you'd be without the Canadian warranty on the 5D.

It all depends on what you plan to buy.

I think that's the only case where that's true actually, hehe.

How about getting it in the states WITH the rebate?

Do an eBay search for the camera you want limited to Canada. Robinson cameras from Calgary has several 5d lens combinations on right now at good prices, another plus is that you only pay GST not the PST when buying from Alberta. The 5d is priced just at $3260 at their eBay store, I bought a 580 flash from them and found their service to be excellent.
