Hi guys thinking of buying one of these, and would like to know if anyone has any experience of these lenses, how good are they ?, will be using it on a 350D, think that will make it a 160mm fov but still at f/2, thought it might be useful to have for low light stuff rather than the 70-200 f4L.

Thanks

Alan.

By all accounts it's the 85mm f/1.8's 'bigger brother' (takes the same hood as well), and that gets good reviews by most - I too have been thinking of this one or maybe stretching to the 135L, but at the price I personally don't think you can beat the 100 f/2

Here's a sample with the 100mm f2. I don't have it anymore because at the time I wanted to fund something else. I miss it.

Although it is not my most used lens (that honor would fall to the 200 1.8) the 100 f2 is without a doubt one of my all time favorite lenses. Small, light, fast (both from an aperture perspective and in focusing), and wonderful bokeh it goes with me where every I go. This is a shor of a jazz singer friend of mine. This was shot in a local Jazz club here in Atlanta that is lit with the equivalent of candle light. ISO 3200 on a 1DMkII.

I would highly recommend this lens.

Michael.
