Using the generic term :D

Wool on the other hand is far from it.....he is the, bourgeious (how the heck ya spell that? My French is worse than my Chinese) (PS: to cover my own behind, intention was to say "elite" :p)

Well, if he ever comes back, we'll find out if he minds being called bourgeois...

This thread has gone to crap. Who'd a thunk........;);)

Just when you think you have seen it all....hehehe:cool:

sorry to hear of your loss dan

i hope you said nice duck to my duck!!

Thanks Tina....and if I saw your nice duck...I probably said nice duck. I'm like that.

Pretty much....and there is no 'pure craft whose faith must be defended at all costs'.. photography has been pretty much democratized now, and with that, you get the hoi polloi who will do whatever, whenever they please with it. You should see what cellphone cameras are doing these days, I would go blind looking at the results but far be for me to tell them what to do.

Too much of my time is spent with serious stuff...I come here to relax and enjoy the company of people that share a common bond. Lots of wonderful and fun folks here...that are willing to share some knowledge and expertise...without waving the "I'm so special, do only as I say and do" banner. I figure if people are truly offended by what they read here...there are plenty of other threads to spend their time and effort on.

Hey Wool, you never said...what are your views on being bourgeois rather than hoi polloi?

You are wise.... :)

When all else is said and done, the laughter, and the good times, are what people will remember. Not the serious stuff. Friends and I get together, laugh at all the s#$t that's happened, and as I used to say.... it's never funny when you are in it, after the incident everybody laughs, you only remember the good times.

 And I used to go wide-eyed at my crew who would drink quad shots at Starbucks and live to tell the tale...

All the best......you never forget the first shot that you won with! Or the gear or what you were doing at that time. My 350D and 10-22 nailed me the prize winner.....awesome...... :D

ROFL....Nothing elite or bourgeois about this kid...I'm about as vanilla as they come. High fashion for me consists of buying from Sam's Club instead of Wally-World. Cheeseburger and fries is the meal of choice. Photography is my one little indulgence.

Oh no....some jerk just stole a car in the eastern part of the state...at gunpoint....forced the driver out and took off...with a 2 year old in a car seat in the back. They were returning home from the ER...the kid is sick.

Hahha cool :)

Actually there is another thread asking if this hobby is really expensive, not in an absolute sense (it is) but relative to some of the things people do. I went to a horse jumping competition (friends were participating, guess who was photog with 1D and 70-200), drew some harmless fun comments about the camera and the size of the rig I was carrying. It did occur to me to ask some of them how much the horses cost upfront, and they'd range from an XTi with kit lens to yours and my entire gearlists at one shot. So I joked with them.. "I don't have a horse to feed, so I feed the 1D instead" :D

Plus CapEx and OpEx costs (Capital Expenditure - purchase price, etc. Operational Expenditure - running costs).... photography has low OpEx, horse has high OpEx..
