I know...if I didn't already have a chat thread going, I'd start one called "tumbleweeds"...it's weird...haven't seen everything this quiet in ages.....maybe people are actually out (shhhhh) "doing other things" (grip chair to brace self from shock)....

Unbelievable! :p

Actually I am back from the other things already, so now I'm wondering where's everybody.

We have more storms here...today was the only good day for the next several. I'd like to go to the animal sanctuary. Our closes off most of it from Nov1 to April1...but there are some trails we can walk all year.

Ah we got a lot of rain today, very nice.... haven't had this in a long while. This'll be the first production use of the 100-400 for me (apart from the duck shots....)

Hmm.... well, more a figure of speech. Good photos, really ;)

I hear they have a very nice birds of prey show.... see if I can get some good bird shots. Will definitely be able to get some of the bird sitting on the guy's hand.. yaknow, I don't care if they are captive birds, I am shooting for fun :D

I do suspect however, that I will scare all the other tourists with the Great White...

Fringe benefits of DSLR ownership..

1. Speed speed speed
2. Fast AF
3. Accurate AF
4. TTL viewing
5. High ISO sensitivities are useable

...

325. Get to clean dust bunnies from sensor on regular basis
326. Take pictures of gulls doing the 'aircraft blue ice' thing
327. Scare tourists with P&S
328. Complain about "lens is soft"
329. Push pull zoom...
330. Ability to haunt POTN
331. And meet strange characters

... list goes on....

I'm not really fond of birds of prey shows but I've been to one. (mostly I'm not fond of them because I hate to see birds restrained...but the one I went to, all were birds in rehab...) Here's one...the birds themselves are so beautiful...(shot it with the 1-4 of course...)

We have more storms here...today was the only good day for the next several.

The weatherman was just talking about 60mph winds and more rain and flooding on the way here for tomorrow. Oh boy.

Tuesdays I usually have less time to myself than any other day of the week -- that would explain why I'm posting now, at 10 'til midnight. I have my 4 year old and 9 month old with me at home all day; the 7 year old and 4 year old have swim lessons; the 4 year old has soccer practice (I usually coach and run the practices); and once a month I have a meeting with a non-profit I'm involved in.

Tonight I had a meeting with the non-profit, followed by a public meeting with a representative of the school district. I did play photo-journalist for a while, taking shots of his talk and the Q&A period to post on the website that I'm rebuilding for them. Follow that with a couple of hours of working on the site, and suddenly it's late again and I'm way behind on my posting quota. ;)

Is this where someone is supposed to compliment you on the shot of the "hot chick?" ;);)

Nice! This place also uses rehab birds which they say cannot be released back into the wild due to survival concerns. Their primary mission is a sanctuary and rescue for injured wildlife, after all. I guess the birds are sorta working to 'pay the bills' :)

Wow.....I couldn't imagine keeping up with 4 of them. I'm someone who is so much on the go that I can't even afford to keep animals. Well apart from the fact that I'm not really interested in them, I also feel I shouldn't keep them unless I can care for them properly. Too many other pet owners don't even think about this before making the purchase.

Yes, I think we're getting the same storm...either before or after you :) We're just drying out from the last one too....
