I actually live in a valley surrounded by mountains. We get Tule fog all winter and it just sits here and keeps us cold, damp and miserable. The rest of the state can be lovely.....so sometimes we just drive up into the mountains to see some sunshine. However, today is sunny but rain is coming tomorrow. So the fog will be back in a few days! Here's what it looks like from the High Sierras....

(and you're a heck of a lock more courageous than I...I've got those types of photos under lock and key, in a safe and hidden under 3 dobermans)..

Wow, what a great shot! I was amazed when I understood the expression, "The fog rolls in" when I visitied England 10 years ago. You can see the fog rolling in off the water and it's so amazing. So, you're saying it's chilly there in the winter, huh? I don't feel too sorry for you. After living in Binghamton, NY where we get 50 good days of sunshine, VA is great, and CA can't be worse.

Well Claire, if you make enough friends at strategic locations, you'll have a great tour complete with guides :)

You've got a place in Va. The DC area is really great for tourists, but don't forget the 3-1-1 procedure. :)

3-1-1? Va is that Virginia? (Yes, I'm crap at American geography. Ask me more when we're starting to produce US guides). I have a friend in Washington DC who I'd actually love to visit one day. We haven't seen each other since BA graduation.

Ah, I love DC. I live fairly close and have only been there once, and it was with school. I'd love to go down again, it's a very beautiful city/district/state-wannabe and it has a million and one things to take pictures of.

I've never been to DC. If I don't go there earlier I'm sure I will when my friend gets married. She asked me to be a bridesmaid, but as we have no clue when in the future she will marry, we'll see about that. Besides, I'd rather be a guest so I can go around with my camera!

My place is always open and I am close to several Nat'l Parks as well as the beaches. I have one spare bedroom but my living room is 1200 sq. feet and I have bunked up to 15 people on pads and mattresses there. Come on down!!!

You think you get in trouble with the packages that show up on your front porch? I love Claire like a daughter, but she would be very difficult to explain to my dearly beloved.

Hmmmmm.

On the other hand, it might be worth it.;)
