who uses maps anymore. Garmin Nuvi GPS is the way to go

Oh! Me! Me, me, me!!! I love maps. I have stacks of 'em all over the place. Wilderness maps, road maps, trail maps, you name it... I have the National Geographic Topo! map software for the states of California, Nevada and Arizona (and I bought the California set of CDs even before National Geographic bought out the company that originally made them -- I think they were called Wildflower back then). I also have Microsoft's Streets & Trips -- probably the only Microsoft product I actually like to use...

I have three Garmin GPS receivers, too. They're certainly handy, but none of them will replace a good map, and knowing how to use it.

My name is Lonnie, but I answer to Thomas too.

Agreed! Can't replace a detailed map...

Yeah but I like to hear Jill to tell me to turn left. She has such a sexy Austrailian voice.

Unfortunately the avionics of the UH-1N I fly on hasn't changed much from '69, so I have to rely on maps whenever we fly out of the local DC area... Same goes when I'm hiking around. I don't carry a GPS with me... just map and compass. When I'm driving around, however, I have a TomTom GO! 510. Kinda need it when I get lost driving through DC!

The GPS navs are awesome for finding shortcuts too... My TomTom has a traffic update feature, but it's made for the UK. I wish I bought a Garmin instead. The problem I see with most of these tools are the roads are always changing and the software, for me at least, isn't cheap.

Yea, I was going to go with the 'That's not an ass in the background' comment, but I didn't have it in me to be that mean...
