Oct 22, 2006 21:34 | #17 Weather sealed or not I think if I went shooting in the rain with a 1D or any D camera I would probably add a layer of Syran Wrap around it and the lens just to be absolutely sure its 100% weather sealed. I would probably also take my old flash handly bracket and tape a Umprella to it to be extra sure. Just funny that way I guess, but I like my electronics to stay dry. Christopher J. Martin

I do have a dryzone bag which should keep all water out once sealed, they say that when fully loaded and zipped it floats, now i really dont wat to try that. Inside the bag is a heavy weight garden rubbish bag, like a black binbag but only half the length. If it starts raining then i just pull it out and pop it over the camera (which is usually mounted on a tripod) like a poncho. Saves messing around and rushing in the rain, then just have to wait for the shower to pass. Moderation is for people that can't handle excess.

I really wouldn't mind a weather sealed body because it's a little hard to predict when someone drunk is going to throw a beer bottle or fall over near you and spray it everywhere. No damage so far, though, as I really do try and dodge or cover the gear as much as possible and wipe it clean asap. Gear Listhttp://www.codastudios.com.au

I was only lightly protected, and was soaked to the bone in half an hour. I was wringing my gloves out every couple of minutes, and only stopped when I noticed liquid water between my filter and the front lens element. 1D's are sealed, but not against the air-sucking action of a slide lens like the 28-300. The pressure/volume displacement is too much for the seals. Doc. Doc's Machine
