Cute capture but appears a bit on the underexposed side.

what jra said and try to set your lighting up so that it's horizontally aligned with the subject's eyes and then you can use your flash as fill lighting. you did a good just with not over exposing your whites, but unfortunatly it does seem alittle underexposed. it could be that the lighting was set up too far away from the subject. it's a cute picture though. try dodging the eyes alittle too.

NO more beer for that rooster! 8) He appears to be falling (sliding) forward a bit.

You might want to try a larger aperature (smaller f number), like 4-5 or less to blur the background a bit.

VERY underexposed, need more lights, use a slave and softbox's, get rid of the flash.
Is this a chicken? lol If so...its hard to tell, you need to really work on posing. Guessing a 4-6mth old bub? In our studio 4-6 mths we use props such as small chairs, bean bags and bub on top looking over on their tum, back shots laying in bean bag again, also using props qwhere bubs can sit inside and be supported. Babies need a lot of support to make a shot look good. ALSO tripod is a must for a lot of studio shots.
Bubs has dead eyes, which means there are no highlights, you need to be slightly higher than bubs then shoot down a tiny bit, get bub to look UP (Distract with bells etc) so then the lights highlight his eyes.

Hopefully this helps, its just general knowledge from working in a studio environment epesh with bubs and kids
