And over the Cumberland Hills - the very last shot that I took before I got drenched and still had 3.5 miles to walk back to the car!

That's the trouble - you get such awful weather in England!

Its a stunning image David. Wonderful light and great composition. :D Well worth the soaking you got (easy for me to say ;) )

I agree with Trevor and Reigh.
Great light and comp.
The pano crop makes this image work.
The road disappearing over the ridge of the hill
towards the cottage works too.
Excellent.

Would this be "Great Grimpen Mire", David. :)

Thanks Reigh :D I should have included both my hounds into the shot and it would have worked better for you  ;)

Trevor there's nothing for it I'm going to move back to Scotland to get some warm gentle, sunny breezes and less precipitation

Cameron, It's a view towards Swindale and Bampton Common - taken from the edge of Stainmore Common and Bowes Moor.

Don't know about "Great Grimpen Mire" but the land was certainly a "Great Grim Mire" by the time I reached the car...even the dogs were cheesed off!

Lovely image. Not all that different from the weather in the Pacific Northwest..... The crop works, the colors work, and the road leading over the hill works, all very well.

David,

Lovely lighting. Very pastoral.

One little thing that I wish, though. Compositionally, I think it might have balanced a bit better if you had moved just a wee bit to your right as you took the shot. The road seems a bit awkward coming in from the middle of the bottom of frame.

As far as the 3.5 mile walk goes - well, just be grateful it wasn't 5.6 kilometers!

 Hopefully you had a waterproof bag for the camera!

But it was worth it for that lovely shot. Did you use a GND filter, I wonder?

Thanks for the comment and suggestion Rad, I agree and even on the original it could have been just a tad more to the right. As you can see from the original image below, I cropped it from the bottom which made the road more central.

The camera was well covered it was me that got the soaking! Didn't even have a waterproof with me!:(

I did use a GND and also the CP was on the camera as the weather had been blue skies earlier! Thanks for your comment.

I didn't mean anything sophisticated you know. I always carry a grocery type plastic bag. :p

Thanks for the answer... I was guessing you used a GND.

edit: you know what? I think I prefer the original...
