C mode? (A620)

I don't really get what C mode is for. Could someone please explain it to me? I gather you can set custom settings with it, but what does that really mean? Are you setting specific f-stop, wb, flash level etc. settings or more broadly just setting which mode? Can you set up just one specific setting or can you enter a few different ones that you would commonly return to? How are they set? How is it different than how settings in each mode are saved when you switch to another mode and then back?

You're essentially saving the settings you may like under a particular situation - ISO, exposure mode, shutter and aperture if applicable, zoom, etc. See p. 69 of the 620 Advanced User Guide.
