would you trade your EF 24-70 f2.8 L with the EF-S 17-55 f2.8 IS?

I'd keep the 24-70, but then I have a 5D and D60 in addition to the 20D; neither of those will take the 17-55. And I have a 15-30 Sigma that fits all 3 bodies.

I sold my 28-70 F2.8L for the 17-55 F2.8 IS, does that count? ;) I don't regret it for a second.

Hello,

First post here. I used to own an 24-70L but I traded it in for a 17-55mm f/2.8 IS. I couldn't be happier with this decision!

The IS is a lifesaver.

When we compare the weather sealed D200 to the 30D we make the argument that the 30D will take better pictures. I'm confused by those who have 1.6 bodies that wouldn't choose the 17-55IS for the same reason, let alone the more useful focal range.

I have the 24-70L and it is the best big brick of a lens I've ever used! No. And I don't buy EF-S lenses because I'm going FF soon (I hope).

Well, you couldn't even use it on your 10D, either. So that would suck, to be able to use it only one on camera.

If you buy the 17-55, just make sure you don't own or play to own a D30, D60, 10D, 1D, 1DMKII/n, 1Ds, 1DsMKII, 5D, or any film. Other than that, you should be okay.

Keep in mind that IS only stops YOUR motion - not your subjects.

Keep in mind that no IS neither stops YOUR motion - OR your subjects.
