Who cares? At least you got good pictures - that'll outlast any memory of them.

They will laugh at those they perceive different, even if it is something as minor as having a DSLR instead of the more common P&S or camera phone. Don't feel like you need to leave in situations like this. The problem is theirs, not yours. Ignore them, perhaps pity them but don't change your pursuits because of them. So true.

I came over to the pool and snapped of a few of my uncle drinking for a laugh, and after a minute or two, there was a group of foreign adults on the other side of the pool, staring and laughing at me. And before long, there was another handfull at the bar. I knew they were taking the mick because they were all staring at me, one would be saying something, then they would all laugh. I felt really...annoyed/embarrased and so had to leave. I had my 350D, BG-E3 and 70 - 200mm USM on me at the time. Has anyone else had anything like this before? Happens to me every day. Like, I go to the lake (Ontario) to shoot, and on its southern shores a whole bunch od foreign adults swilling beer and acting just plain silly, hollering and shouting in heavily accented English....yeah, right, that's them New Yorkers. I think it's pretty silly to worry about what complete strangers think or do. I would have enabled continous shooting and then aimed my camera at them. ~John

Add a grip, a flash and something huge and white like the 70-200mm f/2.8L IS (especially with the hood)... People start to notice. Some can't help but offer comments. Whatever... Just stay out of my way. ![]() It seemed to me that the grip more than anything ellicted the comments. I'd never really gotten much till I got the grip, then I got a ton of "who do you shoot for" and "what paper is this for" etc, even with a 50/1.8 or a 135/2.8. --Alex Editorial Portfolio
