Yes we can buy San Mig here but seeing it on fisheye closeup stoked the nostalgia.

So, what do you think of the new 8-15 f4 L Paolo? Is it worth all the hype?

Julian the Canon EF 8-15mm f/4L Fisheye USM is worth buying to me for the following reasons

- L lens
- Full-frame fisheye lens for Full-frame (5D), APS-H (1D) and APS-C (7D) bodies
- Circular fisheye lens for Full-frame (5D) bodies
- 2010 lens design
- Will be supported for at least a quarter of a century if we were to assume Canon will produce that lens this long
- Minimum Focusing Distance is 15cm
- Has USM
- Circular aperture
- Dust-proof and drip-proof

Now if you have no need for a fisheye or this wide of a focal length then this lens isn't for you.

I always wanted a fisheye but held out because the original Canon fisheye was designed in 1986 for full frame film SLRs. That lens is now deemed discontinued by BH Photo so it is only a matter of time before Canon stops supporting it making potential future repairs impossible through their authorized service centers.

For a given project I can see this being used for 1-10% of shots in a given project.

Well, I've had the 15mm 2.8( two copies) and rarely used it. I just don't think I'll use it for anything other than for fun.

As you noticed below you will see my t-shirt and crocs in the frame. Have to be careful next time.

before I sleep allow me to post some snaps from Today taken somewhere around Tokyo

Extreme contrast in the subway.. one old woman dressed up in Kimono with 2 guys in Suits Hip shot while rushing out of the train haha

this guy was birding around the Imperial palace... he was using a D3/D3s and I dunno probably a 600 f/4 or 400mm f/2.8 on a gitzo tripod or at least it looks like it
